These are emails I've recieved on the subject of Harry Potter and Satanism. *~*~*~* Hey Guys, My name is Rebecca Collett, I am 15 years old and love the Harry Potter series. I was skeptical at first, but I was given the first book for Christmas and ended up reading it as a last resort. It turned out that I love it! I read your Harry and Satanism part. Although I completely agree with you, you could have worded it more tastefully and with a bit more insight. As a Christian person, I am able to look at both sides of this issue. I don't think Rowling intended this book to be satanic in anyway; I mean it was written (mainly) for children. But, I can see how people may interpret what they do to be a satanic ritual. You might consider writing the issue first, presenting both sides of the stories and then include your own insight. Perhaps a conclusion to your article might be: The witchcraft that Harry et al practice may appear to be satanic, however, is a fantasy story supposed to be serious? To all the "bible-busters" who are taking this light-hearted book far too seriously: the only wrong against God and the bible is if you take the book as lies and not fantasy. Perhaps mention that if their children are reading the Harry Potter stories and then going and practicing witch craft then they are not bringing their child up in an appropriate fashion. There is more I would like to say, however, I'm really too tired too think anymore. Thank you for reading, and please get back to me. Sincerely, Rebecca Collett ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Hi people, I was just reading about an email that was sent to you on Satanism. I have read all about people who are trying to ban Harry Potter. I enjoy the books very much and I don't study Witchcraft or Wicca. I have really notice that the people who are trying to ban it are very religious groups. I can see how they want it banned but they also have to understand that there are people who thoroughly enjoy the books. The lightning scar that Harry wears is a sign of Satanism. But, they celebrate Christmas. There is some cruel parts in the books but not cruel enough to be about Satanism. I watch cartoons and there are parts where you see anvils being dropped on other peoples heads and playing with TNT. You don't see me going around blowing people or things up. I think that if people have a problem with it they should not let their children read the books. Sarah P.S. I hope I wasn't too harsh. I just don't want the books banned.
Thanks a lot!!!! Keep sending!!!! Oh one more thing! To Rebecca:Honestly that is as tasteful as I can get on that subject. That is the way I feel about those people. But thanks for being honest. |
